When people enter for the Ultra Tour Monte Rosa, the ultra trail race around the massif of Monte Rosa, we ask them to tell us why they entered, with this question.
Of all the races in the world, why did you choose to race the Ultra Tour Monte Rosa?
And here are the answers!
Because i think that this race is a real tough race and not just a commercial one.
I ran Tor last year and have been having a hard time finding another race that might live up to my experience there. A number of people recommended this race to me; it looks rugged and wild and incredibly challenging, and not as crowded as UTMB.
Love the Alps (especially under sunny conditions). UTMB too busy, expect UTMR to be more intimate and to my liking.
Because of it being in unique surroundings and not too big in terms of runners.
The scenery, organisation and the course.
The course looks brutal and beautiful, while still having the charm of not having huge crowds and commercial popularity. The perfect recipe for personal growth.
Route description. mountain terrain. cheap flight ticket to Geneva.
Simply because it is very tough while the scenery is splendid!
No crowds on the trail and for the surroundings!
Beautiful scenery, tough but rewarding trails, and glowing reports from everyone I know who’s been before.

I love the Alps and having done the CCC twice this seems like the next step up. Aiming to one day do the full UTMR & UTMB. I’m typing this sat on a bench (having a coffee) before heading up on Stafal-Gabiet ski lift!
Looks like a beautiful part of the world, and a challenge. What could be better!

Das Internet ist ein großartiger Ort, um dem Namen eines großartigen Produkts mit „Alternative to“ vorzuanstellen, um einen Weg zu finden, entweder etwas billiger, einfacher, noch „unentdeckt“ und leiser usw. zu finden. Vor allem dann, wenn das betreffende Produkt ausverkauft ist!
Mit Ultra-Trail-Rennen, nicht anders. UTMB, das klassische europäische 100-Meilen-Eimer-Eimer-Fußrennen, ist immer ausverkauft und mit einer Lotterie für Plätze suchen jedes Jahr viele fähige Läufer nach einem alternativen Rennen. Wie Roman Evarts weiter rät, brechen Sie Ihre 100-Meilen-Pläne nicht ab, wechseln Sie zu einem ähnlichen Rennen und „arbeiten Sie einfach weiter an einem großen 170-Kilometer-Event.“
„Im Januar war ich enttäuscht, nachdem ich nicht in der UTMB Lotterie gezogen werden, aber jetzt weiß ich, dass es die richtige und noch bessere Entscheidung war, an der UTMR teilzunehmen. Ich fand Freude mit fantastischen Menschen in nicht-kommerziellen Umgebungen, wo alles über Leidenschaft für Ultra-Mountain-Lauf. Um denjenigen zu helfen, die nach einer Alternative zum UTMB suchen, hier sind einige Meinungen von Läufern, die sowohl UTMB- als auch UTMR-Kurse kennen, die helfen könnten. Stimmen Sie nicht zu? Geben Sie Ihre Meinung unten im Kommentarfeld!
Ich hatte das Glück, einige wirklich erstaunliche Rennen in vielen Teilen der Welt zu beenden. Dazu gehören die Fünf-Mal-Veredelung des Hardrock Hundred, Tor des Géants, Ronda dels Cims, UTMB, Zugspitz und viele mehr. Ich kann ehrlich sagen, dass die UTMR eines meiner absoluten Lieblings-Berglaufrennen aller Zeiten ist. Es bietet eine so vielfältige Mischung aus Gelände und Topographie, ganz zu schweigen von postkartenwürdigen Ansichten einiger der berühmtesten und bekanntesten Berge in ganz Europa. Das Rennen ist sehr gut organisiert und bietet gerade genug Unterstützung, aber nicht so sehr, dass man seine Wache nicht im Stich lassen kann, während man auf dem Platz ist. Aus Colorado in den USA kommend, war ich sehr beeindruckt von allem, was die UTMR bot. Ich empfehle dieses Rennen als eine großartige Alternative zu größeren, extravaganteren Rennen. Sie werden nicht enttäuscht sein!

Man könnte sagen, dass UTMR eine Alternative zu UTMB ist, aber es ist so viel schwieriger geistig und körperlich. Die Anstiege, die technischen Teile…. es ist so anders. Allerdings ist es 170 km und nicht zu weit entfernt, so dass, wenn Sie einen UTMB Eintrag scheitern ist es sicherlich Alternative.
Sie bekommen jedoch ein böses Erwachen, nicht weit vom Anfang…⛰

UTMB ist ein sehr berühmtes und schönes, beliebtes Rennen. Es ist gut organisiert und markiert, und der Kurs ist sehr schön. UTMR ist ein kleineres Rennen und es ist sehr [friendly] vertraut. Die Organisation ist gut. Die Hilfsstationen sind für die große Entfernung etwas klein. Der Kurs ist toll und für mich war es schöner als der UTMB-Kurs, aber viel technischer und so viel härter als UTMB. Ich habe viel länger als UTMB [to finish] . (UTMR 38:47 gegen UTMB 31:00)
Für mich waren beide Rennen toll!

Ich denke, UTMR ist ein fantastischer Kurs! Es hat mehr Anziehungskraft für mich als UTMB, denn für mich sind die Berge spektakulärer, das Gelände anspruchsvoller und die Trails technischer.
Es ist eine großartige Alternative, aber es hängt von der Person ab. Ich denke, sie müssen ein selbstbewusster und starker Läufer/Walker sein. UTMB kann ein breiteres Spektrum an Teilnehmern bedienen.
Ich mag auch die Größe der Veranstaltung, und ich bin glücklich, in den Bergen allein zu sein, und brauche keine Zuschauer snd Fanfare, aber wenn ein Läufer das will, vielleicht ist das keine gute Alternative.
Es ist die zusätzliche Herausforderung von UTMR, die es attraktiver macht. Ich liebte UTMR und ich hoffe, wieder zu sein.
Meiner Meinung nach ist Ultra Tour Monte Rosa die bestmögliche Alternative zum UTMB für jemanden, wenn die Person einen funktionierenden langfristigen Plan in Richtung 100 Meilen hatte und in der UTMB-Eintragslotterie scheiterte. Beide Veranstaltungen sind nur eine Woche auseinander und es ist nicht viel erforderlich, um das Saisonziel zu reterminieren. Ich würde allen empfehlen, die wegen des Scheiterns in der UTMB-Lotterie sagen: Sagen Sie nicht „Gut, vielleicht nächstes Jahr“, sondern arbeiten Sie einfach weiter auf ein großes 170 km-Event hin und probieren Sie es auf den Trails des Monte Rosa aus. Es wird die beste Option für Sie sein, um Ihre geistigen und körperlichen Fähigkeiten in einem großen Rennen zu testen. Sie werden eine Menge Erfahrung sammeln und neue Dinge über Ihren Körper und Geist lernen. Mit all dem nehmen Sie einen enormen Schub an Selbstvertrauen und Schlussfolgerungen mit in Ihren nächsten Trainingsblock in Richtung UTMB.
UTMR hat nicht so viel Hype wie UTMB, aber wenn Sie sich nicht darum kümmern, in der brasilianischen Festival-Stil Stimmung zu sein, dann gehen Sie für Ultra Tour Monte Rosa ohne Zweifel und Bedauern. Die Wanderwege und Ausblicke rund um den Monte Rosa sind fantastisch!
Denken Sie daran, eine andere Alternative zu UTMB oder UTMR ist es, 100 Meilen / 170 km in 4-Stufenzu fahren. Vor dem UTMB wurde der Kurs offenbar stufenweise durchgeführt. Die Vorteile sind vielfältig: bei Tageslicht laufen, in Bergdörfern übernachten, in komfortablen Hotels übernachten, in denen man gut essen und sich mit anderen Konkurrenten in sentiieren kann, und man deckt immer noch die Strecke zurück, um jede Etappe härter oder flüssiger zu laufen, als man es als Ultra tun würde.

Standing in an Alpine village waiting for the clock to strike 6 and running until it strikes 6 again in another village is a great experience. The camaraderie and banter with other runners was better than my expectations.“

I found that because for the stage races you are staying in hotels overnight, you are able to spend a lot more time with your fellow runners than you would if you were doing the ultra.
